Beaufort24 - Ostend

Beaufort is the Triennial by the Sea. An art happening along the Belgian Coastline. For its eighth edition in 2024, the triennial brings 18 new works of art.

In Ostend, you will find artworks from:

• Femmy Otten: Femmy Otten’s hybrid world of inspiration ranges from classical sculptures and Medieval portraits to outsider art and contemporary visual art. While she almost always refers to something classic, she bends all of these influences to create a precise, sensuous iconography that exudes a timeless quality. 
• Marius Ritiu: Sculptor, painter, and storyteller Marius Ritiu challenges the concepts of boundaries and nationalism in his artistic practice. His personal experience as a nomadic artist and immigrant forms the foundation of his practice. He continues to traverse borders and observe variations in culture, language, religion, status, and nationality. Consequently, reflections on collective awareness, interconnected citizenship, and a sense of responsibility are readily apparent. 

Throughout the previous editions of the Triennial by the Sea, the coastal municipalities purchased various artworks. These either remained at their original locations or were assigned a new venue. This is how Beaufort, a permanent Sculpture Park featuring 42 pieces of art already, was born. It is a unique open-air exhibition taking place in the beautiful scenery of the Belgian Coast.
