Park Nieuwe Koers is located on the west side of Oostende, where there used to be hardly any neighbourhood green. The construction of the park changed this. The new park of 13 hectares is first and foremost a neighbourhood park. The park connects the De Drie Platanen residential care centre, the allotment garden, the events meadow and the Space Science Centre Astropolis.
The central open area of the park measures approx. 9.19 hectares and serves as an events meadow. The area is an open grassy plain, similar to the Greens in England. The concrete platform will be used to set up a stage for large events, but it can also serve as a terrace that local residents can use to play football, picnic, dance, etc.
