Thanks to a generous loan from the city of Sint-Niklaas, the James Ensor House is presenting a special exhibition in which works by Henri Evenepoel (1872–1899) enter into dialogue with those of James Ensor.
Although the artists probably never met, they display striking similarities in style and theme. Both are masterful colourists who bring everyday scenes, landscapes, cityscapes and portraits to life with pictorial bravura. Ostend was the backdrop for Ensor, while Paris played a central role in Evenepoel's short but intense oeuvre. With this exhibition, the James Ensor House brings these two masters together for the first time in an intriguing artistic confrontation.
Tip: have you already visited the Ensor House and Experience Centre and are you only coming for the exhibition? In that case, buy your ticket at the ticket office; you do not need to take time slots into account.
Last admission at 5 p.m.
