"De Koffie Van Morgen" (tomorrow's coffee) is a creative collective centered around Simon Plancke, a young drummer and graphic designer living in Brussels. In his quartet of the same name, he is assisted by three promising names from the young Belgian jazz and improvisation scene: pianists Hendrik Lasure and Thijs Troch, and fellow drummer Elias Devoldere. Armed with recording equipment and humanitarian aid they traveled to various refugee camps in Calais, Dunkirk, Zeebrugge and Brussels for the "Le Ravage d'Ali Baba" project. Together with several prominent authors and with documentary film maker Lisa Tahon, they collected an aray of stories from people on the run and / or in transit. These stories formed the basis for a musical program. The purpose is to take the listener into the world of those people and thus create a necessary antidote to the often dehumanizing language that we hear today in the media and in political discourse. Le Ravage d'Ali Baba is a production of De Koffie Van Morgen, in coproduction with JazzLab and KAAP and in close collaboration with Light of the Children, vzw Humain, Lisa Tahon and many others. A book and an album will be released during the tour. All profits from those will go entirely to humanitarian assistance.

On 17th December 2004, the renovated...
