5 reasons why you shouldn’t miss Flashdance The Musical this summer
Why should you really go see this musical this summer? We have listed five good reasons why!
1. Nostalgia
Anyone who has seen the original film, from 1983, agrees That “Flashdance” is a really romantic story. Alex is a young woman, who leads an interesting double life, working as a welder in a steel plant by day and a dancer in a club by night. She dreams of being admitted to a prestigious ballet school. With the support of her former ballet teacher Hannah, she works tirelessly to achieve her dream but a romance with her boss Nick suddenly threatens to undermine her ambitions.
2. Timeless music
What makes films like Flashdance so special are the iconic hit songs this motion picture spawned. Because you can’t deny that “Flashdance - What a Feeling” and “Maniac” are extremely memorable. And the electrifying dance music will haul you out of your seats in no time. Which is exactly the point of Flashdance The Musical. Dance your heart out, because everyone around you will be doing exactly the same.
3. Sexy musical
Flashdance The Musical also means “What you see is what you get” and in the case of “Flashdance” this also means you may get wet. Of course, we’re talking about Alex’s iconic water drop scene. Other ingredients include the searing hot dance scenes, the overall Eighties feel, and plenty of drama, romance and action. And the women in the audience will definitely enjoy seeing Ben Adams on stage.
Flashdance is a fast-paced raucous musical, ensuring you won’t be bored right up to the closing routine. The actors and the musicians will see to that as there’s always something going on on stage.
4. Flemish guest actress
Ann Van den Broeck will play Hannah, Alex’s mentor, in Flashdance The Musical. Hannah is a former prima ballerina and Alex’s mentor. She helps Alex prepare for her grand audition with the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy.
5. A day trip to Ostend
You can do so much more in Ostend than hit the beach. A stroll through the Venetian Galleries, some shopping in Kapellestraat, a delicious meal in one of the city’s many restaurants, the romantic sunsets on the pier... As you can see there are plenty of reasons for going to Ostend this summer and catching a performance of Flashdance The Musical.
