How to get to Ostend?
1. By car
E40: The E40 motorway connects Brussels with Ostend. The journey from Brussels to Ostend by car or coach takes about one hour.
E17: If travelling from Antwerp, take the E17, and then the E40 to Ostend.
Bruges: 25 km / 25 minutes
Ghent: 65 km / 45 minutes
Kortrijk: 70 km / 50 minutes
Lille: 89 km / 50 minutes
Calais: 97 km / 60 minutes
Brussels: 120 km / 70 minutes
Paris: 309 km / 3 hrs
2. By train
The train station, which is located in the city centre, is within walking distance of the dike and the shopping streets. Direct trains to Kortrijk, Brussels and Antwerp leave from here. There is also a good service to Ostend and Lille. You can even get to Paris easily through Brussels (Ostend-Brussels with an IC train / Brussels-Paris by Thalys).

3. By coastal tram
The Coastal tram is the perfect way for exploring Belgium’s seaside. Travel everywhere quickly, comfortably and in an environment-friendly manner. No need to worry about congestion or finding a parking space. The Coastal tram is also the perfect solution for getting to attractions, events and shops in an affordable and fun way.
During the summer months, the tram runs every 10 minutes. In wintertime, in the mid-season and during the Christmas vacation and spring half-term, the tram runs every 15 minutes. With 68 stops between De Panne and Knokke, there is always a stop nearby. Buy or validate your ticket in one of the Lijn shops at some of the stops, where you can also obtain additional information. You can also buy a ticket on your phone with text payment (only on Belgian networks).

4. By plane
The International Airport Ostend-Bruges is just a short ride from the city centre by car and is currently in full expansion. The airport is used by charter flights and private jets alike.
